From the floor to your door
Buying takes one click. Everything after it — the checks, the paperwork, the shipping — runs through Flip so you never wire a stranger and hope.

The seller ships it to the vault
The item goes to Flip first, not to you. Specialists match the serial, materials, and condition to the public record and reject anything that doesn’t line up — at no cost to you.

It ships to you, insured
Once it clears, the piece leaves the vault with tracking and insurance, and the certificate transfers into your name. You can re-list it from your account whenever you want.

Authentication
Nothing ships until it checks out
Every item routes through the vault first. A specialist for that category runs the same checklist, on camera, before a cent moves.
- Serial vs. the maker’s ledger. The number on the piece is matched against the run the maker registered with Flip. Mismatches and duplicates are rejected on sight.
- Material and build. Weight to 0.1 g, UV and blacklight, seams and stitching, print registration — checked against a reference example held in the vault.
- Function, where it matters. Watch movements are timed, cameras are fired at every speed, records are played end to end and graded for surface noise.
- Photographed for the record. Front, back, serial, flaws and all — the photo set is attached to the certificate and travels with the item to its next owner.
If an item fails: full refund to the buyer the same day, and the seller covers return shipping. The failure is noted on that edition’s record.
How trading works

Before you bid
The questions that come up most. Anything else, the team answers within a day.
What does Flip charge?
Buyers pay 8% on top of the sale price, shown in full before you confirm. Sellers pay 8% on a sale or 4% a side on a trade, taken from the proceeds. There is no listing fee and no charge for an item that fails authentication.
What counts as a limited edition?
A run the maker has capped and numbered — typically under a few thousand units, each carrying a unique serial. Open or unnumbered production doesn’t list on Flip, even if it’s rare.
How do bids work?
A bid is a standing offer at a price you set. It sits on the edition’s record until a seller accepts it, you raise or cancel it, or it expires after 30 days. Match the lowest ask and the order clears straight away. Your card is only charged once a seller is locked in.
Who pays shipping and import duties?
Sellers ship to the vault at their cost. Flip ships to the buyer, tracked and insured, with that cost built into the buyer fee. Import duties on cross-border orders are the buyer’s responsibility and are estimated at checkout.
What if it arrives damaged?
Every outbound shipment is insured for the sale price. Report damage within 48 hours with photos and Flip refunds you in full, then handles the claim. The item’s vault photos are the reference for its condition on dispatch.
When do sellers get paid?
Once the item clears authentication and ships to the buyer — a median of 3.1 days from the sale. Funds land in your linked account within two business days after that.
